All About Ideas/Secrets

House of Ideas, Powers of Secrets is a comics - and occasionally other media - review and criticism publication launched in September 2024 by Elias Rosner after the fall of Multiversity Comics, a site he loved being a part of and misses dearly; that it happened to coincide with the end of the Krakoa era of X-Men is purely coincidental.

This is his attempt at filling that void. We'll see how it goes.

If you subscribe today, you'll get full access to the website as well as email newsletters about new posts when they're available. Sign up for the paid tier and you'll make this sustainable rather than a money sink. Thank you!

About the Author

My name's Elias Rosner and I've been a comics critic since 2017. I've been a critic for longer but I don't think random Goodreads reviews really count. I was previously a staff writer for Multiversity Comics before becoming one of the managers at large in 2022. Occasionally - alright, once so far - I write for SOLRAD and have done a few fiction projects that I feel weird listing on my comics site.

What do I get for signing up?

By signing up, you'll get access to the full archive of everything that's been published before and everything that's still to come. Your very own private library. Is this boilerplate paragraph true? We'll see! In the coming months, I'll be posting a mix of new articles and re-posts from my time at Multiversity. When I do that, I'll make sure to tag it and, for my own edification, include the original publication date. If you want to read the originals, they'll still be up at the Multiversity Comics archives.

Most of my posts will be free but, if I can figure it out, many will have paid-members–only commentary blocks or accompanying posts. It should be fun.

Fresh, never frozen, content, delivered

Social media sucks and I refuse to use it! That means this is one of the few places you can get updates on my writings for other sites or personal thoughts. Old school blogging on a new school platform, maybe? I dunno. I'm too young for the golden age of blogging. Email is open if you need to contact me too.

What's with the paid tier name?

A YouTuber I follow and greatly respect, Hazel, structured her Patreon to only have one tier: $1. I like that philosophy and wanted to replicate it, as I'd like to be supported financially here but don't want to overburden subscribers; Ghost articles pushing for higher rates be damned!

For full transparency, Ghost costs money to use rather than free with a cut of each subscription taken out like Substack or Patreon. The amount scales up as the number of subscribers increases as well as which "tier" you pay for. The higher the tier, the more customization you get, the more it costs. Right now, I'm at the lowest tier, which suits me just fine: $104 a year ($9 a month) or $11 a month if billing monthly. Do I wish I could get into the nuts and bolts a little more? Sure but if that was priority #1, I'd just build a website myself and I definitely don't have that kind of time or patience at the moment.

So...if I liked the $1 tier so much, why did I pick $1.50? Entirely because my payment processor, Stripe, takes a chunk of every transaction ($0.30+2.7% per charge). I don't think I have enough of a following right now to to cushion those fees (prove me wrong folks!) and make this thing self-sufficient; that thirty cents is an absolute killer for a single dollar tier. Adding an extra $0.50 means only 8(ish) people have to sign up for a paid tier rather than ~14, assuming I commit to a year all at once.

Anyway, if you enjoyed that breakdown, I think you'll like what I do here and if you really liked it, consider throwing this Witcher some coin. If you want to save some coin yourself, go with the yearly price.

Did you read that and want to donate more?

I must be doing something right. If you want to give me more money than one tier allows - or can't afford something ongoing - here's the place to go. And seriously. Thank you.

Plugging the Platform

So far, I'm liking this set-up. Maybe you do too. I'm using Ghost, in case you wanted to give it look yourself. It's far more customizable than it looks (if you're at a higher paid tier than me.)
